CheezIt meatloaf should have worked in theory. It did not. What I thought would be fun and tasty turned out to be dry and bland. Cheez-Its have their merits in many recipes, just not with meatloaf. 🙁

CheezIt Meatloaf Inspiration
This meatloaf recipe started out as a joke. One of my co-workers eats Cheez-Its all the time. So I made a meatloaf using crushed cheez-its as my breadcrumbs. To complete the effect, I topped the meatloaf with Cheez-it crumbs and ground pepper.
The Cheez-It idea was a failure. As you can see from the photo, the Cheez-Its did not work well as a binding agent. The Cheez-Its did not add much flavor to the meat. In fact, the crushed crackers served to dry out the meatloaf. Dry meatloaf is a sin in my kitchen. However, Ruby (my faithful kitchen assistant) was enthused by the outcome.
The Lunch Score
The dryness of the meat was a culinary disaster. I topped the meat with a half cup of thin beef sauce. Even then, the meat did not glisten like my regular meatloaf. No, my friends. CheezIt meatloaf is not a good idea. There are thousands of meatloaf recipes available. Try one of those.

Master Meatloaf Tips
- Use 80/20 Hamburger. Leaner meat dries out too quickly.
- Top with petite tomatoes while cooking.
- Use one egg in the meat mixture for binding purposes.
- Use Worcestershire sauce in the meat mixture for flavor.
- Drain one-half of the meat juices after 30 minutes of cooking.
